You may have heard this quote from Pope Francis, “The parish is not an outdated institution; precisely because it possesses great flexibility, it can assume quite different contours depending on the openness and missionary creativity of the pastor and the community.” (The Joy of the Gospel, #28)
As we envision the future together, we will partner with the Catholic Leadership Institute team over the next four years to grow into a Next Generation Parish. This experience provides our community with a process to assess our greatest opportunities and strengths, develop a plan to move into the future and cultivate a deeper missionary spirit within the community.
Together, our parish will move from maintenance to mission as we fully embrace the four key traits of a vibrant parish.
What is a Next Generation Parish?
Fosters Spiritual Maturity with a plan for discipleship of its members.
Shares Leadership with a commitment to organizational health.
Offers a Vibrant Sunday Experience via hymns, homilies, & hospitality.
Embraces a Missionary Impulse to go out and bring others to Jesus.
Envisioning Process
Led by our Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) consultant, Tricia Cellucci, Fr. Martin chose a team of parishioners from both parishes to articulate our parish mission and envision our parish priorities. Over a period of 4 months, Tricia facilitated six meetings with our envisioning team. We began by evaluating the information gathered from our parish survey, local demographic data, and the parishioner focus groups and interviews with our CLI consultant. The Pastoral Plan you see here is the fruit of this envisioning process.
