In honor of Sacred Heart Church’s 150th Anniversary as a parish, we are promoting the devotion to the Sacred Heart. This year also happens to be the 350th Anniversary of the Sacred Heart Revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque. We made an emblem to signify this special connection between our Church and the revelations below.
This page is dedicated to sharing reflections & prayers for the Sacred Heart Devotion, along with ways to place Christ’s Sacred Heart at the center of your life. We will also share the ways in which our parish will be celebrating this big anniversary.

Enthronement of Jesus in Your Home
At Sacred Heart Church, we are offering everything you need to Enthrone the Sacred Heart in your home as a way of celebrating our 150th Anniversary. Or you can find out how to do this at: https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/first-friday-devotion-and-first-friday-4760
We will soon have an 8 x 10 image of the Sacred Heart, along with prayers so that you and your family can crown Jesus as King of your home. The goals of the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart are
- to increase worship of God, especially of the Heart of Jesus,
- to increase our belief in the merciful love of God,
- to offer love to God in return for his infinite love for us,
- to make reparation for the sins of ourselves and others, and
- to increase our love for and reception of the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist.
The 12 Promises
- I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.
- I will establish peace in their homes.
- I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
- I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.
- I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
- Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
- Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.
- Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
- I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored.
- I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
- Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart.
- I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”

Prayer of Self-Offering to the Sacred Heart
Oh Jesus, reveal Your Sacred Heart to me and show me its attractions. Unite me to it forever. Grant that all my desires and every beat of my heart, which does not cease even while I sleep, may be a witness to You of my love and may say to You: Yes, Lord, I am Yours! The pledge of my loyalty to You rests ever in my heart and shall never cease to be there. Accept the little good that I do and be pleased to make up for all my wrongdoing so that I may be able to praise You in time as well as in eternity.
Prayer for Peace of Heart
O Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus, hidden in the Most Holy Eucharist, now, as at the Last Supper, You desire to commune with us. Take up your abode within me and drive from me all that is earthly, proud, and sensual, all that is hard and cruel, all that is perverse, all disorder, all deadness. So fill my heart that neither the events of the day nor the circumstances of the time may have the power to disturb it, but that in your power and reverence, Your Peace may dwell in me. May I commune with You and worship You with my best love and devotion!
Prayer of Union with the Sacred Heart by Saint Gertrude
Hail, Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and strengthening source of eternal life, infinite treasury of the Divinity, and burning furnace of Divine Love! You are my Refuge and sanctuary. My loving Savior, consume my heart in that burning Love with which your own Heart is inflamed. Pour out upon me the grace that flows from Your love. Let my heart be so united with Yours that our wills may be one, and my will may in all things be conformed with Your Will. May Your Will be the guide and role of my desires and of my actions.
Petitions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, embrace my heart. Fire of the Heart of Jesus inflame my heart. Charity of the Heart of Jesus, fill my heart. Strength of the Heart of Jesus, sustain my heart. Mercy of the Heart of Jesus, pardon my heart. Patience of the Heart of Jesus, do not forsake my heart. Reign of the Heart of Jesus, establish yourself in my heart. Wisdom of the Heart of Jesus, teach my heart. Will of the Heart of Jesus, guide my heart. Zeal of the Heart of Jesus, consume my heart.
Prayer of Adoration and Petition
Most Holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I love You. With a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, and pure, and perfectly obedient to Your Will. Good Jesus, grant that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the midst of danger and comfort me in my afflictions. Bestow on me health of body, assistance in temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
O most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Jesus, trust in you.
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you. You take care of everything.
Reflections
St. Margaret Mary Alaqoque:
“One day…I was praying before the Blessed Sacrament when I felt myself wholly penetrated with that Divine Presence, but to such a degree that I lost all thought of myself and of the place where I was and abandoned myself to this Divine Spirit, yielding up my heart to the power of His Love.
“He made me repose for a long time upon His Sacred Breast, where He disclosed to me the marvels of His Love and the inexplicable secrets of His Sacred Heart, which so far He had concealed from me. Then it was that, for the first time, He opened to me His Divine Heart.”
Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque:
“My Divine Heart is so inflamed with love for men, and for you in particular that, being unable any longer to contain within Itself the flames of Its burning Charity, It must spread them abroad by your means, and manifest Itself to them (mankind) in order to enrich them with the precious graces of sanctification and salvation necessary to withdraw them from the abyss of perdition.”
St. Margaret Mary Alaqoque:
“My Divine Master revealed to me that it was His ardent desire to be known, loved, and honored by men, and His eager desire to draw them back from the road to perdition, along which Satan is driving them in countless numbers, that induced Him to manifest His Heart to men with all the treasures of love, mercy, grace, sanctification, and salvation that It contains.”
“Do not let the past disturb you – just leave everything in the Sacred Heart and begin again with joy.” Saint Teresa of Calcutta
“Learn of the Heart of God in the Words of God, so that you may ardently long for eternal things.” St Pope Gregory the Great (540-604)
“In the Sacred Heart, there is the Symbol and the express Image of the Infinite Love of Jesus Christ which moves us to love in return.” Pope Leo XIII (1810-1903)
“In the Sacred Heart every treasure of wisdom and knowledge is hidden. In that Divine Heart beats God’s infinite love for everyone, for each one of us individually.”
Pope St. John Paul II
